What We Know About The New Teosyal Fillers

Good news filler fans: the FDA recently approved two new groups of HA (hyaluronic acid) dermal fillers for your injector to add to their anti-aging arsenal. Welcome, Teosyal and Teosyal RHA.

Created by Swiss manufacturer, Teoxane Laboratories and touting themselves as ‘the first hyaluronic acid which respects your facial expressiveness,’ these new injectables are said to offer effective, yet extremely natural-looking results for pretty much all of your facial concerns. Think everything from plumping the lips and addressing lines and wrinkles, through to dealing with under-eye circles, surface scarring and sagging cheeks – all thanks to the mighty HA.

Some of our favorite dermal fillers harness the power of hyaluronic acid (Juvéderm, Restylane and Belotero Balance to name just a few). So, why is it such a big deal? Because HA is a vital skin component that acts like a super-human sponge to draw water into the skin and help maintain a moisturized, healthy complexion. In our younger years, the skin is literally packed with HA but inevitably, as with all good things, these levels start to decrease from as early as age 18 (mic drop). More bad news: by the time you hit 40, these levels start to fall as much as 50 percent, and this manifests itself in the various signs of aging such as lines, wrinkles, sagging and sunken skin.

Like other hyaluronic acid fillers, Teosyal and Teosyal RHA temporarily replace lost HA to help volumize and hydrate the skin, while softening lines and stimulating collagen production. They’re made of a non-animal origin HA which is biodegradable and non-allergenic, meaning the chances of sensitivities and side effects are very slim. They also tend to stretch and move well with the skin, making them an excellent choice for dynamic lines on the face such as those around the mouth. The Teosyal lines have been around for some time in Europe and Canada and they’re slowing making their way into practices across the US. Results are both immediate and long-lasting with benefits seen for up to 9-12 months depending on your age, lifestyle and degree of correction.

Eyes peeled for them arriving at a doctor’s office near you…
